These Guidelines are part of the Terms of Service. Breaking them can cost you a post, a handle, your messaging or your account.
The short version
Post your own photographs of your own cards. Be someone other collectors are glad to run into, in public and in private. Everything below is detail.
What belongs here
Crew is built for the cards you actually own and the chase you are actually on: the pull you could not believe, the set you are four cards from finishing, the card you have been hunting for a year. Photographs you took yourself are the whole point. Catalog stock art is not a post; it is a picture everyone has already seen.
Talk about condition, print runs, artists, sets, grading and what a card is worth to you. Disagree about all of it. Sharp opinions about cardboard are welcome; sharp opinions about people are not.
What does not belong here
Hate
No content that attacks, demeans, dehumanizes or promotes hatred or violence against a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, caste, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or serious disease. That includes slurs, hate symbols, and support for organizations or ideologies built on any of it, in a post, a caption, a comment, a poll, a hashtag, a message, a handle, an avatar or a bio. There is no ironic exception, no reclaimed exception and no “just joking” exception.
Harassment
No targeting, bullying, threatening, stalking or pile-ons. No sexual harassment. No unwanted contact after someone has blocked you or asked you to stop, including through a new account or a group. No publishing anyone else’s private information, such as an address, phone number or workplace, or anything else they did not choose to share, and no posting someone’s private messages without their permission.
Sexual content, and protecting minors
No pornography, sexually explicit or suggestive material, or nudity. Nothing that sexualizes a minor in any way, real or drawn: this is the one rule with no appeal and no warning, and we report it to the authorities. Do not ask anyone who appears to be a minor for personal details, photographs of themselves or a private channel. Groups are for adults only, and Poplex limits what younger collectors can do, so do not try to get around those limits.
Violence and self-harm
No graphic violence, gore or cruelty, including to animals. No threats, no glorification of violence, and nothing promoting terrorism or violent extremism. No content encouraging suicide, self-harm or eating disorders. If you are struggling, please talk to someone; in the United States you can call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
Fakes, scams and stolen cards
No counterfeit, reprinted-as-genuine, trimmed, recolored or otherwise altered cards presented as authentic. No stolen goods. No scams, fake giveaways, phishing, pyramid or referral schemes, or fake grading slabs. Do not present an edited or computer-generated image as a photograph of a real card you own. Poplex is a showcase and not a marketplace: if you arrange something with another collector, that is between the two of you, and we cannot recover your money or your card.
Spam and pressure
No bulk or repetitive posting or messaging, engagement farming, bot activity, fake accounts or unsolicited promotion. No inflating views, taps or reactions. Sharing your own collecting is not spam; using Crew as a billboard is. In messages: do not send the same sales pitch to many people, do not push someone to decide in a hurry, and do not ask to move a deal or a payment off Poplex to get around protections.
Impersonation
Do not pretend to be another person, another collector, a grading company, a card publisher or Poplex. The verified star belongs to accounts we operate and to collectors we have verified, and handles that could be mistaken for Poplex are reserved. Do not imitate the star in a name, bio or photo, and do not use a verified account to mislead people; we remove the star when that happens.
Illegal activity and other people’s work
Nothing illegal, and nothing that infringes somebody else’s copyright or trademark. Post photographs you took. If a photograph is not yours, do not post it. Do not post a photograph of a person who has not agreed to it.
Messages, groups and voice messages
Private conversations are private, and the same rules apply in them. The first message you send to someone who does not follow you is a request: keep it short and respectful, and do not send more until they answer. If someone ignores or deletes your request, do not try again through another account. Do not record or share a voice message or a private conversation outside the conversation without the other person’s permission.
In a group, the owner and admins are responsible for keeping it within these Guidelines. Do not use a group to pile onto a person, to run a scheme, or to list goods or quote prices: Poplex is a showcase, not a marketplace. If you leave a group, or are removed, do not return through another account.
Stories, shares, polls and hashtags
A story is yours for 24 hours, and everything here applies to it, to its text, mentions and stickers. When a collector allows it, you can add their post to your own story with their handle on it. Keep their credit, and do not use their post to mock or mislead. Polls and hashtags are content too: a poll that targets a person or group, or a hashtag built to harass, spam or evade a filter, is removed like any other post.
Business accounts and sponsored posts
Businesses are welcome. A business account follows every rule above, and its sponsored posts must be accurate and must not mislead people about what is sold, its price or its condition. A sponsored post is always labelled as sponsored, and you may not make an ordinary post look like a Poplex-approved ad, or an ad look like an ordinary post. The Business and Advertising Terms say more.
Your handle, avatar and bio count too
Everything above applies to your handle, your avatar, your banner and your bio, not only to posts. Poplex refuses offensive handles automatically, but an automatic filter is a floor and not a ceiling: a handle that gets past it can still be removed.
Common scams, and how to protect yourself
These are worth knowing before you deal with someone, here or anywhere:
- Someone who asks you to pay by gift card, cryptocurrency, wire transfer, or by sending money to a friend or family account so it is hard to get back is very likely a scammer.
- Someone who asks you to send first, to hurry, or to leave Poplex to finish a deal is trying to remove your protections.
- A grading slab can be fake. Check its certificate number with the grading company, and look closely at the label, the case and the card.
- A price that is too good to be true usually is.
- Use a payment method that lets you dispute a charge, keep proof of postage and insurance, and meet in a public place if you deal in person.
Poplex sometimes shows a reminder under a message that names one of these payment methods. It is a reminder, not a finding about the person who wrote it.
Reporting and blocking
Every post, comment, profile, story, message and group can be reported from inside the app. Reporting is private: the person you report is not told who reported them. Any collector can block another. A block works in both directions: you stop seeing each other’s posts, comments and stories, you cannot follow or message each other, and a conversation between you ends. Do not report content you simply disagree with, and do not use reports to harass someone; misusing reports can cost you your own account.
We read the reports we receive and act on those we uphold. We look first at anything involving a minor, a credible threat, or an immediate risk to someone, and may refer it to law enforcement. We decide the rest as quickly as we reasonably can; we do not promise a response time, and we may decide that a report does not break the rules. When you report a private message or a group, Poplex keeps a copy of the reported message, and of the messages just before it, so we can review it.
You can also write to support@poplexcollectors.com, and you should if something is urgent or does not fit a report reason.
What happens if you break these
Depending on what happened and whether it has happened before, we may remove or hide the content, reset or reclaim a handle, limit what an account can do (for example turn messaging off for a week or for good), close a group, suspend the account, or remove it permanently. We may act without warning, and we may act on the first offence: the seriousness of the conduct decides, not the count. Content involving the sexual exploitation of a minor, credible threats of violence, or hate directed at a person or group will ordinarily end an account immediately.
As the Terms of Service set out, these decisions are ours to make, at our discretion. Where we reasonably can, and unless the law or safety stops us, we tell the person what we did and why.
If you think we got it wrong
Write to support@poplexcollectors.com with your handle and what was removed or limited. A person at Poplex will look at it again and tell you the result. Automated filters overreach sometimes, since an ordinary word can contain an unfortunate string, and we would rather fix that than leave you locked out of a handle you had a good reason to want. If you are in the European Union, you may also have rights under the Digital Services Act, which these Guidelines do not limit.
These will change
Guidelines get written by the situations nobody anticipated. When we update these, the new version is posted here with a new effective date, and for a significant change we will tell you in the app.
